  2. Dear Margaret, Which hall are you refering to? This blog is not related to a hall as far as I know.
Anyway good luck with the 60th! I had mine a couple years back…

  4. Hi, I have just stumbled across this blog, having been looking up the Grangewood Park events. Have just come back from an inspiring local event organised by Vauxhall Trust Community Interest Company in Vauxhall Pleasure Gardens. Perhaps Thornton Heath too could do with a Community Trust company! Give two pennies for your thoughts!

  6. A community interest group sounds like a good idea! I wonder if anyone is interested in getting involved in my venture to clean-up Thornton Heath. I recently made an application to The Mayors Capital clean-up project for Thornton Heath which has been accepted. I had to come up with an idea, which was to approach local schools and invite children to design a winning campaign design which would discourage anti-social behavior like litter dropping, spitting and dog-fouling. The chosen design would be used on a poster to advertise several community pride days over the summer when people could come together on high street and onto Brigstock Road to pick up litter as a way of both cleaning up streets and letting people know we have pride in our community and hopefully positively influencing the behavior of others.

The Capital Clean-up kit has already been delivered to me (includes gloves, litter picker sticks and very trendy high-vis jackets : ) I have contacted The Crescent Primary Head but have had no response so far.

If anyone would like to get involved or has any ideas, please let me now as I don’t think I will make much of an impact by myself.

    • Hi Jo,

I think that’s an excellent idea. I’ve only just moved to the area so don’t know too many people but I’m up for trying to make some sort of difference.

  11. Hi All,

Hopefully some of you will have seen posters on high street. We will be running our community pride days for the following dates on Thornton Heath high street:
    Sunday 3rd August 12-4pm
    Sunday 10th August 12-4pm
    Meeting point outside Tesco

We need volunteers, so please come if you want to help . We will encouraging people not to drop litter but also telling them about our residents association which we are forming in order to try and influence the council to make changes that will improve our area, e.g more waste bins on high street. We are setting up a website and would be great if people would join us. I will post details of website in next few days.
